Classroom News
Jan.30-Feb.3
Dear Parents,
This week we are reading the story "Frog and Toad Together" on Pg: 94-111. Please listen to your child read each day or have them to read to someone else. Please sign and date the log in the back of your child's text each day. Today we are reading the Decodable Reader Day at the Farm." Tomorrow we will read "Mom Races." Please sign the front of each decodable after your child reads them and return to school.
Our Sight Words this week are: afraid, again, few, how, read, and soon. Please have your child to practice reading these words.
Our spelling words this week are: (Words that add –ed)
ask, asked, plan, planned, help, helped, jog, jogged, call, and called.
Also, students need to spell the sight words again and soon.
Our Pre Test will be on Wednesday and the Post Test will be on Friday for anyone who doesn't make 100% on the Pre Test. Be sure your child studies these words each day.
Also, be sure that your child only does one side of the spelling homework each day so we can do the other side the next day.
This week in English we will learn about verbs for now and the past.
In Science this week we will discuss life cycles and plant needs.
In Math this week we will continue to practice with data collecting and graphing. We will also convert data to tables as well as solve story problems with comparisons.
On Wednesday Feb. 1st unless we get snow days between now and then we will be celebrating the 100th day of school. Please encourage your child to collect 100 small items such as toothpicks, buttons, stickers, cheerios, etc. I would like for you to help your child to mount their collection on a small poster board so we can display these in the hallway for others to see. I would rather your child not collect pennies to mount because this will be too heavy to stay on the wall. I would like for the items to be arranged in groups of five or ten so we can count them easily in class.
Our Student of the Week is Maris Adkins!
Be sure that your child is reading ten or more books for the Book-it program and is completing the form with the titles and authors. These are due by the end of the month. Next month students will get a new form. This will continue through March. Each month your child participates in the Book-it program and turns in their form they will receive a free pan pizza from Pizza Hut!
Please send your child to school each day unless he or she is sick. They will receive Brave Bucks each day they come to school. They will also receive Brave Bucks for completing and returning
homework, and for good behavior! They will spend the Brave Bucks they earn at our classroom store throughout the year.
Thank you for sending the germex, tissues, and disinfectant wipes. These are always needed and greatly appreciated!
